Wonderful Waterfalls in Northern Ireland

Waterfalls are not just something you see everyday. I remember as a child always being fascinated by the one out by Benone beach by the cliffs there. To think of it, it was probably the only waterfall that I ever saw as a kid! But there are lots more dotted around our wee country. If your looking for a day out with the kids where you can get back to nature, here are some options for Waterfall hunting.

You cant miss this Waterfall tumbling down from the top of the cliffs behind Downhill beach, its actually one of the highest falls in Northern Ireland. I also remember my Granny collecting fresh Spring water from a outlet around this area back in the day.

Best to visit after heavy rain or even more spectacular when it is frozen in the winter. Continue to enjoy your day on the Benone Beach.

Gorgeous secluded Waterfall. Free parking at the start of the 1.5km trail. Or take a hike up from Carnlough Harbour. Enjoy the peaceful walk in nature to the Falls. Are you brave enough for a dip?!

Many rivers and mini Waterfalls are dotted around this serene Forest Park. £5 entry on arrival. Perfect place to immerse yourself in nature all seasons of the year, but especially spectacular in Autumn. Keep an eye out for the Red Squirrels. Also camping available here.

Just a few minutes down the steps from the car park is the Pollnagollum Waterfall, dropping 20m into the Cave. Continue on wards on the 7km hiking trail if you wish.

Glenariff Waterfall, Ballymena BT44 0QX

Stunning location with amazing views down the glen. Take the Waterfall trail and end up at the little cafe at the bottom for a treat. Only £5 to park for the day.

Beautiful waterfall in a peaceful setting. Possible to swim/paddle in the natural pool for all those cold water swimmers! Wooden footway around the falls. 5 min walk from the car park. Take a little walk through the quaint village of Glenoe afterwards.

Ness Waterfall at 30 feet, is the highest waterfall in Northern Ireland as it cascades through the woodland gorge. This is an amazing old forest with ancient moss covered oak trees. Follow the riverside path for a dander and play in the adventure playground.

Tranquil location. These falls are more of a gentle drop rather than from height, but still worth a visit if you are over that way. Perfect little spot for a picnic. 10 min walk from car park down a gentle slope.

Dunseverick Falls, Bushmills BT57 8SY

Best seen after heavy rains. Its not often you get to see a raging Waterfall cascading straight into the ocean. Can park at the Dunseverick Castle or Harbour car park.
